“Arsenic and Old Lace’ this weekend

The new year brings a new production of an old chestnut at New Rochelle’s Theatre Works. “Arsenic and Old Lace” runs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (Jan. 10-12) in the school’s vast Whitney M. Young Auditorium.

The wacky story involves two old ladies from Brooklyn who do kindnesses to lonely bachelors by offering them wine laced with arsenic. They then enlist their nephew—who is convinced he is Teddy Roosevelt—to bury the stiffs in the basement. Add to the mix a murderous other nephew and what is the only sane Brewster nephew (drama critic Mortimer) to do?

Tickets are $10, $7 for students and seniors.
